Introduction
Developed for the ISP, ASP and
NSP, Broadband DSL offers nationwide access to the
lucrative broadband market in Malaysia. Broadband
DSL is an integrated solution comprising various components
that includes: Fixed Access, DSLAM, BRAS, ATM and
IP.
Broadband DSL is an ideal platform
for the bundling of applications and content with
a broadband access – audio and video streaming,
portal applications, net-meeting, e-commerce services
– almost anything is possible with 24-hour “always-on”
connection speeds of between 512kbps up to 1Mbps.
The levels of investment that
would be necessary to extend the reach of an access
network can often be prohibitive and time-consuming
– the capital costs may even jeopardize what
is an otherwise viable business plan. Broadband DSL
has been thoughtfully developed to overcome these
and other obstacles to ensure that the Service Provider
can hit the ground running.
Service
Offered
Presently, Broadband
DSL is confined to an ADSL Wholesale offering only.
For ease of operations and manageability with Broadband
DSL, Service Providers will be required to subscribe
to a complete broadband access package as mentioned
above. The interconnection between the Service Provider
Network and TM shall be based on an MPLS interconnect.
The product features and specifications of DSL include:
• SLA that is based
on MCMC standards (fulfillment, restoration and availability).
• Centralized control from network RADIUS.
• An ‘always-on’ service.
• A ‘best-effort’ offering.
• Limit of one session per DSL port subscribed
TenancyTM
Wholesale shall be responsible for the management
of all network elements mentioned above through Customer
Service and the NOC.
Benefits
Reduce Capital and Operational
Expenditures : Lowers market entry costs, hence lowering
upfront risk. For example, the Service Provider can
test, refine and validate their broadband application
and service offerings without significant investments
in broadband infrastructure.
Fast Time To Market : Provides
immediate access to a proven, secure and stable broadband
infrastructure, thus reducing the time to market for
the Service Provider’s application and service
offerings.
Multiple Services and Applications : Broadband DSL
can be configured to provision a host of applications
and services that can include Intranet, Telecommuting,
Secure Extranet, VPN and Remote Office connectivity.
Volume Discounts : As a
customer of Broadband DSL, Service Providers have
an option to commit on volume and enjoy volume discount
plans.
So what’s the bottom-line? Service Providers
get to offer nationwide broadband access and an opportunity
to bundle an independent service package in the shortest
time and with the minimum amount of cost.
